Sri Akili

Sri recently joined the team at Chelmsford Community Radio and is excited to begin her journey in broadcasting and community media.

Originally from India and now living in Essex, Sri is currently completing her final year studying Business and Finance at Anglia Ruskin University. While much of her academic and professional life has focused on business, finance and analysis, she has always had an equally strong interest in communication, storytelling and meeting people from different backgrounds.

Sri says: “I’ve always enjoyed talking to people and learning about their experiences. Whether through public speaking, tutoring, debating or everyday conversations, I’ve found that everyone has a unique story to tell. Community radio felt like the perfect place to combine my curiosity, love of learning and passion for connecting with others.”

Alongside her studies, Sri has completed internships in finance and financial services, experiences that have strengthened her analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Away from work and university, she enjoys public speaking, exploring different cultures, learning languages and keeping up with topics ranging from business and technology to culture, education and current affairs.

Having lived and studied in different environments, Sri values hearing diverse perspectives and believes that local radio plays an important role in bringing communities together. She is particularly interested in conversations that help people learn from one another, celebrate local achievements and share experiences that might otherwise go unheard.

As a new member of Chelmsford Community Radio, she is looking forward to learning from experienced presenters, developing her broadcasting skills and becoming part of a station that makes a real difference within the local community. Sri hopes to bring enthusiasm, curiosity and a fresh perspective to the airwaves while helping listeners discover new stories, ideas and voices from across Chelmsford and beyond.
