The December edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. The programme featured Christmas card craft and bake ideas, the annual Gene quiz, and discussions about Christmas parties and favourite Christmas songs.

Guiding activities highlighted included a Brownie trip to the cinema and attending a camp. Units mentioned were Cressing Rainbows and Brownies, Black Notley Rainbows, fifth Braintree Brownies, second Black Notley Guides, first Brain Valley Rainbows, third Black Notley Brownies, and fifth Braintree Guides. The show also discussed a badge initiative, started by County Commissioner Sue, and the "100 Years of World Thinking Day Challenge" badge.

About this show

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
