The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 5 January 2025
The January edition of The Gene Radio Show featured Maxine and Lily in the studio, where they shared reflections on their Girlguiding activities over the recent Christmas period. Lily discussed some of her experiences, while Maxine spoke about her journey, noting that 2024 was her first proper year in guiding. She also expressed her enthusiasm and looked forward to the adventures and opportunities that 2025 would offer within Girlguiding.
In addition to these personal insights, the programme provided listeners with the latest updates, news, and views from Girlguiding. The show actively encouraged listeners to join the organisation, highlighting the ongoing opportunities and benefits of participation within Girlguiding.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
