The Gene Radio Show

Sunday, 1 December 2024

The December edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. They discussed unit activities, badges, and personal guiding experiences, with a festive nod to Christmas.

The programme featured a unit activity day at Screens Park, including zip-lining and paddleboarding, and a Christmas card decorating competition for older Guides.

About this show

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
