The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 3 March 2024
The March 2024 edition of The Gene Radio Show, presented by Maxine with girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, celebrated International Women's Day. The team discussed various activities and events related to this important day, and encouraged listeners to share their own contributions.
The programme also looked ahead at upcoming Girlguiding events, including plans by Girlguiding Essex North East for a Ninja Warrior challenge.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
