The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 5 November 2023
This November edition of The Gene Radio Show features Maxine presenting solo, sharing the latest news and views from Girlguiding Essex North East. She covers upcoming events and opportunities for members across the county and beyond.
This edition highlights several upcoming activities, including a Children in Need super badge and a penalty shootout in South End. Girlguiding Essex North East is running a Christmas e-card design competition for all sections. Maxine also discusses the special Remembrance Day badge, created in partnership with the Royal British Legion, available for all age groups. Listeners are encouraged to get involved with UK Parliament Week activities and consider volunteering. The G-G radio team is also recruiting older Guides, Rangers, and Young Leaders to become presenters or roving reporters, with training provided.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
