The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 2 April 2023
The April 2nd, 2023 edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine. This engaging programme featured girls from various Girlguiding sections, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. Among the participants was Thayer, who joined the other girls in sharing their recent and exciting Guiding experiences with listeners.
A significant part of the show highlighted the recent launch of Girlguiding's new branding. The girls and Maxine discussed its distinctive visual elements and how this new identity was being rolled out across the different sections of the organisation. Listeners were also informed about various county-wide initiatives, providing an update on activities and plans across Essex North East.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
