The October edition of The Gene Radio Show, presented by Maxine, offered a special tribute reflecting on Her Majesty the Queen's long association with Girlguiding. County Commissioner Sue Sutton was among those who shared insights during the broadcast.
Listeners also heard about the Queen's Guide Award, a significant achievement within Girlguiding. The show honoured the Queen's enduring connection to the movement, celebrating her dedication as patron and her support for Girlguiding.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
