The Gene Radio Show

Sunday, 3 July 2022

The monthly edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls representing Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. This particular programme was dedicated to the celebration of Pride, a topic chosen to reflect Girlguiding's important policy of being fair, open, and inclusive to all its members.

During the show, the team had the pleasure of welcoming special guest Christina. Together, they celebrated the strong community spirit found within Girlguiding and beyond. The episode also took time to highlight Girlguiding's vibrant and active presence at various Pride events, including those that have taken place in Chelmsford.

About this show

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
