The programme explored various opportunities within Girlguiding, including upcoming events and the future Strategy 2020. Discussions also touched upon the programme's upcoming 10-year anniversary, inviting listeners to share celebration ideas.

Specific guiding activities highlighted included a Brownie activity and the new badge programme. Girls Amelia, Amine, Amy, and Emily suggested a Brownie Gold badge, a gymnastics badge, and a confidence badge. The show promoted a regional peer education project and an exclusive Guide weekend at PGL, offering activities like ab sailing. Details were shared about the Women's Festival on March 9th and regional Supernova events with county coach options. A special message from the Chief Guide of Girlguiding UK was also featured.

About this show

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
