The February edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls and leaders from Girlguiding Essex North East. The main theme for the programme was Thinking Day, with discussions looking forward to the upcoming March celebration and its associated activities. The show also touched upon the Women's Festival and the Chief Guide Challenge.

Listeners heard about several badges, including the Chief Guide Challenge, a new exclusive badge, the Digital Challenge, and the Promise badge. The programme also covered preparing for large-scale camps and the Essex International Jamboree. Units from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers were mentioned, with discussions on removing financial barriers to participation and the Girlguiding Anglia website. The Women's Festival in Colchester was also highlighted.

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
