The Gene Radio Show

Sunday, 5 August 2018

The August edition of The Gene Radio Show welcomed Maxine, who was joined in the studio by a lively group of girls from various Girlguiding sections. Guests included Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers, providing a comprehensive look at the different age groups involved in guiding. Charlie was also a named guest on the programme.

A significant focus of this programme was the official launch of the new Girlguiding programme for 2018. The discussion explored the exciting new badges and resources that were being introduced, benefiting members across both Girlguiding Essex North East and Girlguiding Anglia. This launch marked an important development for guiding activities in the region.

About this show

The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.

It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
