The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 1 April 2018
The April 2018 edition of The Gene Radio Show, presented by Maxine and girls from Girlguiding Essex North East, focused on the new 'Future Girl' campaign. The programme announced new badges for Rainbows and discussed the 'Future Girl' badge, encouraging all units to participate in this project.
Listeners heard from the new Chief Guide, Amanda Medler, and Julie Bentley, Chief Executive of Girlguiding. Upcoming events mentioned included a County Training Day on Saturday 19th May, a celebration on Thursday 6th November, and a member's day. The team also reminded listeners to check the latest county update for diary dates.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
