Sunday, 3 December 2017
The December edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls from Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers. The programme explored the diversity of Girlguiding, including recruitment campaigns and the important role of peer education. Maxine also shared some festive facts and encouraged listeners to get involved in Christmas activities.

About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
