The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 1 November 2015
The November 2015 edition of The Gene Radio Show, presented by Maxine, features the Little Haven's Team. This programme is largely dedicated to Girlguiding's Big Gig 2015, including reports and interviews conducted backstage at Wembley Arena. Girls from various sections share their experiences and excitement from the event, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere and the opportunity to meet artists.
The episode also highlights various Girlguiding activities, such as the Grow Guiding Anglia Bake-Off finalists and a county training day held at St. Helena School in Colchester. Shout-outs are given to Girlguiding Braintree Division, Second Guides, Fourth Guides, Fifth Guides, and First Guides. Listeners hear about Sophie's recent trip to France and an upcoming evening event with a chocolate demonstration. The programme celebrates girls who have made their Promise, and Girlguiding Essex North East's plans for the year ahead.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
