The Gene Radio Show
Sunday, 2 August 2015
The August edition of The Gene Radio Show was presented by Maxine, joined by girls representing Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. Sophie and Jade were also part of the presenting team for this programme. The show celebrated the diverse and engaging activities available within Girlguiding, highlighting the many opportunities for members across all age sections.
Throughout the programme, discussions featured a variety of camps, events, and competitions that members can participate in. The team also specifically covered upcoming guide camps, giving listeners a glimpse into the range of exciting experiences members can look forward to as part of their guiding journey.
About this show
The Gene Radio Show was made by Girl Guides. It belonged to Girlguiding Essex North East: Guides from across the county joined Maxine J in the studio, a rotating team of young co-hosts sharing guiding life, community stories, and conversations with politicians and celebrities. For more than a decade, the programme put guiding on the air in the Guides’ own voices.
It began on Saint FM 94.7 in Maldon, a station which has since closed, and moved to Chelmsford Community Radio in 2015. On CCR it was on air on the first Sunday of the month, from 2015 until 2 August 2026, and the archive holds 133 editions. The show has now ended.
